Aa pilots should be very experienced and familiar with routes, and there is traffic tower guidance too, video didn’t favor helicopter either.

A few years ago when there’s lots of buzz and complaints about frequent delays in China, there,s comparisons to us, which is way more efficient , us flights are way more, more crowded air space, but amazingly extremely safe, the last tragedy was almost 20 years ago near Buffalo, blamed on winter cold and pilot too young.

Obviously this success had huge toll, pilots and control towers are under high pressure, lack of rest, depression, quite some are alcoholic, recently many news reported near misses.

Especially dc area, maybe they should never have som many other small planes crowding the space. News said military helicopters operate daily and routinely, but it’s military, always secretive, how much interaction with civilian control towers and are they obeying?

The investigation certainly won’t be easy.

I am actually re hasn’t been much complaint about delays in China in recent years. If they improved, maybe it’s not a always good news, as we mourn the Potomac tragedy, we do realize we human beings always and will keep making mistakes.

For fly phobia persons like me, I don’t mind delays at all if it delivers safety.
