You can compile pretty good evidences, e.g., China had far fewer epidemics than Europe.
On HH's point, I would guess through half of China's history, there was a significant population troubled by wars and famines. But this is still lot better than Europe. Also you could argue the literacy of Chinese was much better too, while education was mostly enjoyed by monks and autocrats in the west.
