The bad reflections on the Prime Minister are now coming from leading left-wing thinkers like essayist, author and journalist David Marr, who described Mr Rudd as an angry man this weekend.

He detailed how Mr Rudd was privately scathing of Chinese efforts to derail a deal in the Copenhagen climate-change talks last year.

"Those Chinese f****** are trying to rat-f*** us," Mr Rudd is quoted as saying.

Mr Marr's thesis, based on long conversations with Mr Rudd, is that anger is the core emotion that drives the Prime Minister.
