This song was written and sung by "Carly Simon", after she was dumped by Warren Beaty, one of the most famous playboy in hollywood.
If you read the lyric of "You are so vain", I bet you will laugh. If you pay attention you will heard her singing "song of a gun" very lightly at the beginning. It is a very good song though.
