government officials as their 校长, and they never actually set foot on those universities. The actual admin works are done by 副校长，what do you call that? In HK, however, chancellor is translated as 校监。But this I have never seen such term in mainland. Regarding UT chancellor's role and the org chart of the governing council, see the link I provided.
